Position: Indirect Procurement Manager
Location: Whitley Bridge, North Yorkshire

About the role:

The Indirect Procurement Manager is responsible for the full management and development of key Indirect Procurement categories including Travel, Fleet, Office Supplies, Consumables, IT etc.

Responsibilities:

– Development of procurement processes and procedures to secure ongoing control and compliance
– Develop and drive the procurement strategy of assigned categories and project activities
– Issue RFP’s and RFQ’s, conduct negotiations with suppliers, drive the supplier selection process
– Proactive cost category reduction initiatives driving change / implementation with stakeholders
– Deliver ongoing supplier management and supply chain improvement
– Ensure that the business has a professional Procurement Service obtaining ‘Best Value for Money’ deals
– Proactively deliver and track purchasing efficiency savings
– Act as category leader for specified categories, with the objective of securing best value solutions
– Ensure employees comply with the procurement policies and procedures and any business requirements
– Identify synergies across functions and harmonise approach to maximise value and reduce waste
– Draft and negotiate agreements with suppliers following legal principles in line with corporate policies
– Manage ongoing contract renewals for all internal Indirect spend ensuring the best position for the business
– Support stakeholders with bid / tenders / procurement best practice on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis

About you:

– Ideally MCIPS and Degree qualified
– Significant experience in a procurement department
– Significant experience managing multiple aspects of Indirect spend
– Proven track record in Indirect Procurement sourcing strategy and category management
– Commercial / contractual experience in negotiating terms and conditions for: Individual Purchases up to £500K in value, management of categories with spend up to £1m per annum
– Proven track record in cost reduction, demand management and supplier consolidation activities
– Previous experience of Supplier Management in categories such as Travel and Fleet would be a distinct advantage
– Strong knowledge of purchasing techniques and skills associated with the procurement of a broad range of indirect goods and services
– Good knowledge of contract law with practical experience of their application to procurement projects
– Exposure to Direct procurement would be an advantage but not essential
– Strong project management skills
– Strong level of business acumen and understanding of the supplier marketplace
– Stakeholder management, able to manage and influence a diverse group of key stakeholders
– Strong presentation skills
