We are well into the school holidays now and you may be getting stuck on ideas for how the keep the children entertained.
EXPECT Summer 2019 might just be what you need, it is a great chance to meet new people, try new activities and of course have a lot of fun!
EXPECT Summer 2019 is taking place across our borough in Conisbrough, Denaby, Mexborough, Balby, Hexthorpe, Edlington, Rossington, Thorne, Moorends, Stainforth, Woodlands, Highfields, Bentley, Askern and areas surrounding Doncaster town centre.
Last year’s programme attracted 3,462 individual children and young people to 59 venues! This year the programme is even bigger and better with the inclusion of more areas, more activities and more venues.
Over 4,500 individual parents have already made bookings and 125 local, regional and national organisations are involved in the delivery. So what are you waiting for?
A minimum of 4 activities take place in each area per day, Monday to Friday throughout the school six week Summer holiday period. The wide-range of activities include sports, art, design, culture, business and fashion are designed to help children and young people, aged between 5 and 18 years of age try new activities, make new friends, develop new skills, get active and get outdoors.
All of the 1,500 sessions taking place are free to attend, with more sessions and activities are being added on a daily basis.
15,000 bus journeys have been donated from the First Bus Group to enable children and young people to attend events/activities across the borough.
Free fresh food, fruit, snacks and water will be available to young people attending.
EXPECT Summer is being delivered in partnership with Club Doncaster Foundation, Darts, Flying Futures, the EPIC Team from Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust, Active Fusion, Doncaster College, Doncaster Borough Council and dozens of voluntary youth organisations that are part of the wider EXPECT Youth network.
Activities will take place at a number of facilities, including Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs), sports fields, community centres, libraries, sports centres and schools. An EXPECT Summer mobile engagement bus will also operate across the borough to publicise the programme and encourage young people to attend.
