A local group in Doncaster are doing their bit to ensure male’s over 60 are not being drawn into social isolation.

MGDON (Men’s Social group Doncaster,) are a group originally set up on behalf of Age UK, Doncaster. Their initiative aims to target men over 60 living in Doncaster who may be single, isolated or living alone, to come together and enjoy interacting with others.

The group are not trying to replace official organised services, however, are aiming to offer somewhere for men to meet and enjoy a form of social interaction.

The meet up offers a number of benefits for guests, including food and drink, regular special guest talks and organised bus trips to various destinations a couple of times a year.

Guests are offered a cup of tea or coffee on arrival, with soup and rolls up for grabs at 1pm, except for the third Wednesday of each month when a two-course lunch is available.

The group meet every Wednesday between 12pm – 3pm, and are encouraging any men who wish to have a chat to come along.

MGDON meet at St James Church Hall, at the bottom of Hexthorpe Bridge. There is a bus stop nearby and the venue is within walking distance of the interchange. There is also limited car parking.

The group look forward to meeting you there. You can contact MGDON via our website www.mgdon.org.uk, or you can ring us: Audley on 07882492881 or Rob on 077104723301.
