Trust Fostering has launched a new campaign to help local children and young people by reaching out the people of Doncaster to think about becoming a foster carer. The campaign will run across its Facebook and Twitter page over the next month, asking viewers if they could be the person to make a difference in a child’s life.
Head of Placement Services, Belinda Cashman, said: “When we talk to our foster carers it is the little steps they’ve helped a child or a young person to take that are the most rewarding. It is those ‘normal’ everyday things such as helping support child to learn to tie their shoelaces or learning to read, to those bigger milestones in their teens such as passing exams, learning to drive and developing the confidence and skills to take on the big wide world.
“We need to make sure we have enough homes for our children, and we need more people who’ve been thinking about fostering for a while to get in touch. It is a big decision to become a foster carer. That’s why we host our monthly information events, giving people the perfect opportunity to talk to our fostering team, as well as to hear first-hand from our foster carers.”
“We need foster carers from all walks of life, if you’re passionate about improving the lives of children and young people, can be understanding and a good listener and have a good sense of humour then you’d make a fantastic foster carer. You’ll need at least one spare bedroom and to be over 21 years old too.”
Trust Fostering, is part of Doncaster Children’s Services Trust which delivers services on behalf of Doncaster Council. Trust Fostering carers receive 24/7 support from expert fostering social workers and extensive training, and it’s just some of the reasons the service has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
